A New Chapter: We Change Lives Welcomes 3L Care Group

We Change Lives is delighted to share a remarkable milestone in our journey of making a meaningful impact on the lives of the people we support. Today, we are thrilled to announce the acquisition of the 3L Care Group, a residential care business with a specialisation in caring for Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) residents. This acquisition signifies our unwavering commitment to expanding our mission and supporting more people to live their best lives.

3L Care Group operates two homes in Winsford, Cheshire, and one in Atherton, Wigan, offering specialised care for ABI adult residents with complex health needs. In a world where medical advances enable more individuals to live with brain injuries, the importance of specialised care and support cannot be overstated.

The causes of acquired brain injuries are diverse, ranging from traumatic incidents like road traffic accidents, falls, and assaults to medical conditions such as encephalitis, meningitis, stroke, substance abuse, brain tumours, and oxygen deprivation resulting from cardiac arrest or other causes.

As we embark on this new chapter in our journey, we are acutely aware of the pressing need for ABI care in the Northwest of England. The UK Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF) has been tirelessly advocating for the expansion of neurorehabilitation services. Their reports reveal a stark reality - a nationwide shortfall of 10,000 beds needed for Traumatic Brain Injury residents, with the demand particularly high in our very own Northwest region - and We Change Lives is deeply committed to helping bridge this gap.

Our Chief Executive, Mr. Phil Sermon, shares his inspiring vision for the future:

“We aim to develop our Residential Care and Supported Living services as well as the ABI services. The acquisition of 3L, along with new services in Chester, are the start of this programme. We are determined to offer the very best care available to all our residents. With our planned expansion in the area of ABI, we look forward to responding to the growing need for residential care offering neurorehabilitation services.”

This acquisition brings the We Change Lives family to 13 residential properties and a dedicated team of 275 staff members who share our passion for changing lives. Our focus remains steadfast on offering the very best care available to all of the people we support, and this expansion is a significant step towards achieving that goal!
