We learn about Rebecca Screaton's impressive career journey at We Change Lives; from starting as a Customer Service Administrator five years ago to her current role as Specialist HR Administrator.
Rebecca joined the business in August 2017 as a Customer Service Administrator. She settled into the team with ease and made a wonderful impact. We asked Rebecca what initially drew her to joining We Change Lives, and she told us “WCL's Values and Promise are what drew me to the organisation. I have an empathetic personality, a strong want for justice and a belief that everyone should do their part to protect the most vulnerable individuals in our society.”
She then left the organisation for a brief time after the birth of her third daughter, but couldn’t stay away long and re-joined her team again in June 2019.
When Rebecca re-joined We Change Lives on a GDPR project, she told us, “I felt like this was the start of my professional development journey here at WCL. I learned so much on that project, and it spurred me on to want to do more. I applied for the HR Administrator Role in December 2019, and people practice and legislative law has become a passion of mine ever since.”
Rebecca’s progression has taken her on a real journey, where she’s learnt an abundance of new skills and acquired excellent knowledge in her field. She told us, “I have always had a love for learning since I was a child, and working within Human Resources at WCL, you are on a journey of continuous professional development and adapting your practice every day. I am very determined - this and my love of learning is what will constantly motivate me to achieve more for the organisation.”
We wanted to know what Rebecca loves most about working for We Change Lives, she tells us,“I love that ‘people’ are at the forefront of everything we do. I really enjoy speaking to people, hearing their life journeys, what interests them and what motivates them. I communicate with interesting, like-minded individuals daily who also have a passion to see the organisation develop and succeed, and this further ignites my passion to do more. My work provides a much-needed service to the individuals we support and I am very privileged to be able to do this. Ultimately, I feel extremely fortunate to be able to work in a role that enables me to blend my love of learning and people together, this will forever motivate me - how lucky am I!”
Finally, we asked Rebecca what advice she would give to someone considering a career with We Change Lives, and she told us, “My advice would be to be yourself - there is no one greater than you. WCL will take your strengths and help you build on them, so be confident in your abilities and don't be afraid to show what you can do!”
