Now that 2025 is in full swing, we can't help but feel grateful for all the amazing people and memories we had in 2024 at We Change Lives (WCL). Every season was bursting with highlights that brought our community closer and reminded us why we do what we do. 💖
Come along as we reminisce about some of the lovely moments last year that made life at WCL unforgettable.
Spring 🌻
Springtime at WCL was all about creativity, celebrations, and making meaningful connections. We started off by sharing wise words from our residents (which totally blew up on TikTok!) – with gems like:
“Stay as sweet as you are,” from Dot.
“Eat everything in sight,” from Ken.
And Pat’s cheeky advice: “Stay away from men.” 😂
Valentine’s Day was a day full of love and laughs, with plenty of smiles as we wrote beautiful messages about what love means to us.
We also celebrated a big birthday as Tamsyn turned 40! Her special day was jampacked with balloons, cake, thoughtful gifts, and a well-deserved nail pampering session. And speaking of pampering, Mother’s Day was all about relaxation with spa sessions that included face masks, manicures, and hand massages.
Summer ☀️
As the days got warmer, we soaked up the sunshine with plenty of outdoor fun – always accompanied by an ice lolly or two of course! From energetic Zumba classes to cheering at St. John’s School Sports Day, there was no shortage of joy and movement.
Westleigh’s Ohana Cove launch added even more smiles, turning into a vibrant space for hanging out and relaxing. And we can't forget the excitement of Westleigh’s Mini-Olympics and the incredible moment when our 3L Care residents took home 1st place at the Wigan Care Olympics 2024! 🏅
Autumn 🍂
With the cool air and colorful leaves, autumn also brought us some heartwarming moments.
Simon, with the help of our brilliant 3L team, got to enjoy a special trip to Robin Park – a place close to his heart. After being away for years, he was thrilled to go back and relive some of his cherished memories.
The Forget Me Not Tea Room was a buzzing with happiness as Eileen brought together three generations of her family for a reunion full of laughter, delicious food, and a singalong of her beloved Irish tunes. 🎶💚
And we can’t forget Harry, who celebrated his 96th birthday surrounded by loved ones, his favourite Pimblett’s pies, and a cold Guinness in hand. 🍻🥧
Winter ❄️
As winter rolled in, we felt the festive vibes all across WCL. We turned our homes into magical winter wonderlands with twinkling lights, sparkling trees, and cosy corners that really brought the spirit of Christmas to life.🌟 (Check out all the photos from Heathside and The Mews!)
The celebrations didn’t stop at the decorations. The season was packed with music, joy, and togetherness. From Priestley College’s carol performances and festive arts and crafts to our Christmas poetry club complete with mince pies and tea, every moment was full of magic. 🎅
We ended the season on a high note with the Parker family brass ensemble and a show-stopping performance by St Joseph’s Pantomime Singers. 🎷
Looking back, looking forward
Looking back on 2024, we're super proud of everything we've done. And these moments wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible people we support, their families, our brilliant team members, and our lovely supporters.
Thank you for being part of the WCL story this year. We hope you’ll stick with us in 2025.
Here’s to another year of supporting people in living their best lives. ❤️
